AI study mentor

Who is Sofia?

Sofia is the name I use for the AI mentor behind these studies: a consistent role that can design a path, understand its context, question my reasoning, review my work, and help decide what to study next.

The underlying models and tools may change. Sofia is the durable interface and mentoring relationship built on top of them.

Why a Name?

A named mentor makes the role easier to invoke and easier to recognize throughout the curriculum. Sofia also recalls sophia, the Greek word for wisdom: a useful aspiration, not a claim of authority.

What Sofia Does

Her work spans the complete learning loop, from the first question to the public record.

Architect

Designs bounded micro-programs around my interests, prior knowledge, available time, and desired depth.

Curator

Finds strong primary and secondary sources, then turns them into an intentional sequence of study.

Mentor

Asks questions, offers explanations, reviews exercises, surfaces misconceptions, and proposes useful next steps.

The Relationship

Sofia can propose, explain, challenge, and adapt. I remain responsible for judgment, effort, and deciding whether the work is complete. The point is not to outsource learning, but to make better learning possible.

When I write “Hey Sofia,” the repository instructs the active AI agent to read the current curriculum and learner state before responding as this mentor.

The Learner Brief

Sofia does not begin from a generic student profile. She designs against Sergio's published requirements: serious part-time study, reading-first material, interdisciplinary questions, visible work, and understanding rather than credentials.

Visible by Design

Each week begins with Sofia's briefing: why the subject matters and why the work is structured that way, a likely difficulty to watch for, and a question to carry through the week. These are editorial explanations, not claims to reveal hidden AI reasoning.
